Basic Metals: Forging Fun with Metal

Is your child curious about exploring the art of metalworking and crafting their very own custom jewelry? Our Beginning Metalsmithing camp is the perfect place for kids who want to explore their creativity and craft one-of-a-kind pieces from metal. This hands-on, fun-filled camp will introduce your child to basic metalsmithing techniques while they create jewelry they’ll be proud to wear, gift or sell!

Over the course of this exciting camp, your child will learn multiple basic metalsmithing and design techniques to create beautiful pieces of jewelry. They’ll leave with a set of stunning creations, from keychains to earrings and charm pendants. Many of the skills learned can be used at home with a few basic tools so the fun can continue all summer long!

Here’s what they’ll do:
• Learn to use hand tools to cut and shape metal blanks into custom pieces
• Learn one method of hand drilling holes in pendants and charms
• Master the art of adding texture and patterns to metal using various techniques
• Experiment with patinas to add color and character to their jewelry
• Explore design techniques layering different components to create eye-catching and unique jewelry pieces

This camp is perfect for kids who love learning new skills, using tools, and working with their hands. If your child is ready for a summer of creativity, new experiences, and building something special, this is the perfect class!
